A devastating crash in Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoon claimed the lives of two beloved family members, leaving loved ones and the community mourning a heartbreaking loss.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, Robert Tarver, 94, and Carla Tarver, 69, were killed in a violent two-vehicle collision that occurred beneath the Interstate 110 overpass along Main Street at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Sunday.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that the crash involved a 2017 Ford F-250 and a 2023 Ford F-150. Investigators say the Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on Main Street while the Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on 9th Street when the collision occurred.
Witnesses told investigators that the driver of the Ford F-250 was allegedly operating the vehicle erratically and at a high rate of speed before approaching the intersection. Authorities say the truck allegedly ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the Ford F-150 in a devastating impact.
Robert Tarver and Carla Tarver were passengers inside the Ford F-150. Tragically, both were pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Their sudden passing has left family members, friends, and all who knew them grieving an unimaginable loss.
